Farewell to ‘Grid’ spares donor

THE body of Class 56

No. 56106, which had been used as a source of spares for the Class 69 conversion programme, is reported to have been sent for scrap.

Having been stored following its return from France 15 years ago, the locomotive had been a source of spares for the Class 69 conversion programme.

The remaining cab of the locomotive has been moved to EMD at Longport, where the conversions are taking place.
