THE large doors pictured last month

(right) are at the Museum of the Gorge in Ironbridge, Shropshire, which is housed in the Grade II* listed Severn Warehouse that was built for the Coalbrookdale Company around 1840. The area once had a network of narrow gauge tramways, but today a small section of plateway grooves for unflanged wheels is set directly into the paving between the museum building and the river.
