I blame Gatland for letting Wales get predictable

-

THERE is a lot of debate over whether Warren Gatland should go as Wales coach. I feel the debate is redundant as the WRU have already given him and his staff new contracts.

I do feel, however, that they have been quite lazy. They have failed to develop new talent to the required levels and have sat back and allowed the present squad to become stale, predictable and complacent over selection.

The new front row is OK, but I felt that during the Six Nations the praise they where receiving was way OTT. The second row has been a disaster.

AW Jones just isn’t the player he was and for the last few years not even the best lock in the Welsh squad (that is now Luke Charteris). Now he has been surpassed by loads of players, not just the English, but the Irish and Scots combinations far surpass the Welsh now. They are not dynamic enough and fail on carrying the ball.

The same applies to the backrow. Dan Lydiate is surpassed by his English and Irish counterparts and even Ross Moriarty has overtaken him.

Dan Biggar needs to develop a running game to complement his great scrum-halves. While poor Jamie Roberts just isn’t a starting player anymore. Wales would be better to move Jonathan Davies to 12 and start Scott Williams at 13. They also need to get Justin Tipuric into every match, so maybe Sam Warburton should move to lock?
