Polledri four-ces the issue in star showing

- ■ By JOHN BRENNAN

HARTPURY had little difficulty in making it seven wins from seven for the season, outscoring the home side by eight tries to one and looking impossible to stop whenever they ran at the line.

Blaydon on the other hand failed to breach the visitors’ 22 until the 48th minute, scoring their try after a short spell of possession, and can have no complaint at the outcome.

A James Forrester penalty got Hartpury going and once Elias Caven had intercepted in his own half for the opener the floodgates opened.

Star man Jake Polledri ran through non-existent tackles twice in two minutes and by half-time Caven, from a super break by scrum-half Harry Randall, had made it 0-23 with his bonus-point effort.

Just after the restart centre Steve Leonard cut through diagonally for the fifth score but Blaydon finally made an impact when prop Trevor Davison went in from close range after tremendous work by Chris Wearmouth.

That might have signalled a fight-back but Blaydon were unable to capitalise, and as they tired, Hartpury raised their game to polish them off in style.

Flanker Polledri made it four for the day on 70 and 80 minutes, each time shrugging off tackles within the 22. Then winger Jonas Mikcalcius, who had a superb game, finished it off when he chipped ahead to catch and stroll over.
