Hooper helps Guildford spring a surprise

TONBRIDGE Juddians still head the table following a 27-10 win at home to Shelford.

Mike O’Sullivan, Zane van Rensburg, Hugo Watson and Murray Galbriath were the try scorers with Liam Prescott adding two conversion­s and a penalty – Shelford going over for two tries. Second-placed Westcombe Park drop back to fourth after going down 21-14 away to Guildford.

The main damage was done by the boot of Freddie Hooper with three penalties and the conversion of his try, Ben Holden the other try-scorer.

Hertford now move up to second after beating

Sutton and Epsom 38-20 at Highfields.

Ben Creasey, Dave Archer with two, Will Brady and Mike Allen were the home try-scorers with Ben Lloyd successful with four conversion­s.

Sam Hurley and Ian Knott crossed for the visitors with Steve Munford adding one conversion and two penalties.

Wimbledon also took advantage and move into third beating Colchester in a ten-try 62-7 win at Barham Road.

Tony Moore crossed for two with Brian Croke claiming a try and six conversion­s. Westcliffe move up a place, 24-23 victors at home to Guernsey. Jack Hopkins with two

and Harry Branch were the try-scorers, all converted by Jack Jones who also slotted a penalty.

Dorking were 27-10 winners away to

Southend Saxons, all four of the visitors’ tries coming from Fraser Mosley. Matt Noble converted two with Adam Worth knocking over a late penalty.

For the home side Jaid Wiltshire and Iain Meads were the two try-scorers.

In the final game of the round Amersham and

Chiltern recorded their first win of the season beating Chichester 16-10 at Ash Grove.

Lloyd Anderson crossed for his side’s only try converted by Cam McDonnell who also slotted two penalties with Andy Fluker successful with one.

With Westcliffe easing their problems, Chichester, Colchester and Amersham and Chiltern are cemented in the relegation zone with Sutton and Epson seemingly the club to catch.
