It’s three and easy for in-form Ivybridge

National League 3 South West

-

IVYBRIDGE won their third game in a row with a comfortable 29-20 win over local rivals Brixham.

A cagey start by both sides meant there was very little to pick between them, and it took half an hour for the game to really spark into life.

A good drive by Ivybridge led to the first score of the match, a converted penalty try, and the first yellow card – with William Roberts going off for the remainder of the half.

The hosts extended their lead five minutes later with another converted try.

And although Ben Lovell kicked a penalty for Brixham, an interception made it 21-3 to Ivybridge at the break.

Brixham fought their way back into the game in the second period with a try after a good drive, followed by another penalty.

But Ivybridge made the game safe with a bonuspoint

try and a penalty of their own, before Brixham tacked on a consolation penalty.

Bracknell edged up the table as they won 19-6 at relegation-threatened Launceston.

Lachlan Valentine opened the scoring after just eight minutes with a try converted by Ben Nowak.

But the hosts then got on the scoreboard with a penalty.

Hooker Michael Clarke forced his way over for another Bracknell try to make it 14-3, although a 35yard penalty a minute later trimmed the lead to an eight-point deficit at 14-6.

The game was then made safe 15 minutes into the second half when Leo Bailey added a third try for the visitors.

After losing for the first time last week, Camborne got back to winning ways with a narrow 13-11 victory over Bournemouth.

The sides exchanged penalties in a fairly uneventful first hour of the match, but Camborne finally scored a try after a drive from a scrum.

The conversion went over off both posts, and that would prove to be the difference as Pete Roberts’ try for Bournemouth went unconverted. Elsewhere, Newton

Abbot beat Salisbury 38-27 and Dings Crusaders rolled over Cleve 16-3. Old Redcliffians snuck past Bromsgrove in a 27-20 away win, whilst Hornets versus Lydney was postponed.
