Stour hold nerve to seal tight win
STOURBRIDGE got back to winning ways in a game that was much better than the low scoreline suggests.
Both sides attempted to run the ball at every opportunity but were snuffed out by some dogged defending.
Hinckley had Stour penned inside their own 22 from the kick-off.
The Leicestershire side forced a series of lineouts and from one triggered a rolling maul where No.8 Alex Salt was driven over the try-line and full-back Conor Bullivant converted.
Stour were quick to respond and forced a scrummage just inside Hinckley’s 22 where quick ball was flung out to inside centre Ransford Otutaha who found a gap to force his way over, fullback Luke White adding the conversion points.
White then landed a further penalty on 24 minutes as Stour held onto a three-point lead at the break.
Stour stretched their lead to 15-7 on 50 minutes when the ball was thrown wide from a five-metre scrum for left wing Ashley Elvers to squeeze his way over in the corner.
Hinckley hit back with a penalty from fly-half Joe Glover on 65 minutes.
Both sides lost a man to the sin bin late on but there were no further scores despite pressure at both ends.
