Flying Dicomidis leaves Bargoed defence gasping

Pontypridd .... 37 Bargoed .......... 15

STRUGGLING Bargoed found no respite from their poor form on their trip to Sardis Road as a dominant Pontypridd side ran out convincing winners.

Captain Leigh Meades bagged a brace of tries for the visitors but Pontypridd – high on confidence following last weeks’ victory over Aberavon – burst their way ahead before the interval and never looked like losing from that point onwards.

The visitors started out the better of the two sides, and with a quarter of the match gone they led courtesy of Meades’ first try.

That was their high point, however, as Pontypridd took control of the match.

Joe Davies went over to draw level, and Liam Belcher’s score from a lineout just before half-time put Ponty into the lead for the first time.

They didn’t have to wait long after half-time to extend their advantage, with Chris Dicomidis charging down the wing to touch down after a scything break from Hemi Barnes created chaos in the defence.

Meades grabbed his second of the day to bring Bargoed back into the contest, but their joy did not last long as a Gary Williams' break led to Dane Blacker’s bonus-point score in the corner.

Dale Stuckey’s lastminute try was the icing on the cake for victorious Ponty, the result condemning lacklustre Bargoed to their eleventh defeat on the bounce in all competitions.
