I’m back as an Ospreys ambassador (and maybe more later)

-

I SPENT almost all my career with the Ospreys, so I’m delighted to return to help out in an ambassadorial role.

Coming back was a decision we’ve talked about for a while and those discussions started before I went to Japan. I’ve missed the Liberty Stadium, Llandarcy and the whole environment because the Ospreys will always be close to my heart.

Steve Tandy and I started out on the same day with Neath, so I know a lot of the people still involved at the region. Andrew Millward is another who I’ve stayed close to. This is the perfect opportunity for me to return and hopefully I can help in whatever role needed.

I’m looking forward to being around the place again, but I won’t have any involvement in the coaching side. I’ll be concentrating more on the business aspect initially, but if a coaching role did become available or Steve asked me to get involved in that area I’d certainly consider it.

It’s not something I’m actively pursuing, but you only have to look at how the Ospreys are going this season to see they’re heading in the right direction. They’ve got a brilliant squad of players, breezed through Europe and are top of the Pro12.

It amounts to a hugely exciting time for all involved. I like to get my hands dirty and while it’s not something I’ve looked at in detail, coaching isn’t something I’d want to rule out. Since my retirement I’ve been involved with my business work and doing some media which I’ve enjoyed.

Who knows what will happen in the future, but I’d like to think I could add something in the next few years, in whatever role that might be.
