Deano: Yes, put Chris on the plane
RIVAL coaches John Kingston and Dean Richards were united in respectfully suggesting Warren Gatland seriously considers Chris Robshaw for the Lions tour to New Zealand this summer.
Kingston said: “Robbo was outstanding and it’s a very brave man who would discount him from the Lions. He is a wonderful player and to put in an 80minute performance like that after three months out was exceptional.
“One of his greatest strengths is his engine, he just keeps going. He’s been raring to go for two weeks now and it is a massive positive for us that we have a fresh Chris Robshaw for the rest of the season.”
Richards, who gave Robshaw his start in senior rugby, concurred: “He’s an outstanding player. He has the nous and understanding that England probably missed on the day in Dublin last week. As far as the Lions are concerned he is as good as anybody he will come up against on that tour. I would have him in my Lions team any day.”
As for the game Richards had little option but to applaud his old team: “Quins were on fire. It was a bit of a wakeup call but we still have lot to play for.”
