England fans face Puma tour black out
THE RFU are working to ensure that England fans don’t suffer a telly black out of the two-game summer tour to Argentina.
Eddie Jones takes his side to South America for the first Test in San Juan on June 10 and then in Santa Fe a week later, but so far the series has received a lukewarm reception from broadcasters in this country and the rights – which are held by the UAR and are understood to be available for as little as £50,000 – remain unsold.
The rights are aren’t covered by any existing broadcasting deals and are on the open market.
Sky are unlikely to be bidders as they are throwing most of their resources into the Lions tour of New Zealand.
That leaves BT Sport, ITV and BBC, who picked up the live rights for the last tour of Argentina four years ago three days before the first Test as potential buyers.
It is understood that streaming the matches either on a social media platform or on the RFU’s website is unlikely as they face technical difficulties.
