WOMEN’S PLAYER OF THE YEAR
1. Ellie Rogers – Sudbury RUFC
Scrum-half Ellie is U15s captain for Sudbury and will be moving up to the U18s next season. She has played for Eastern Counties and had divisional trial for London & South East. She is also a hard-working asset off the pitch, refereeing U12 games at festivals and coaching the minis.
2. Alix Taylor – Barnsley Rugby Club
Alix is of the club and a role model for all. She is an inspirational captain but has gone far beyond that this season. When the club have been without someone to take a training session she has stepped several times at the last minute. When Barnsley reached the quater final of the National Cup she wrote individually to every member of the team.
3. Kirsty Parr – York RI
Prop Kirsty guided the ladies to win their league, playing every minute of every match. She is kicker and top points scorer, she also scored four tries in one game – not bad for a prop!
4. Laura McGillivray – Royston RFC
As a pioneer of ladies rugby at Royston, Laura decided to set up a team after not wanting to be a mum that watched but a rugby mum leading by example. From ten at their first training session Royston now have 30 ladies. Laura leads by example, her commitment is immense as she dedicates hours to the team; both on and off the pitch.
5. Ailish Clear – Harrogate Ladies RUFC
Ailish continuously scores tries and conversions, trains multiple times a week with Harrogate and at Leeds University. She is a strong member of the team, a superb play maker, putting in all her effort to each game and training session, ensuring everyone is the best they can be and always striving for more.
