Wimbledon stay winless at TJs

- ■ By GARETH WITHERS

TONBRIDGE Juddians ran in seven tries as Wimbledon’s winless run continued.

The hosts struck first, building over several phases to put hat-trick hero Hugo Watson over in the corner.

Further TJs pressure after a break from centre Duncan Tout saw Liam Prescott convert a simple three points in front of the posts and soon after full-back Murray Galbraith-Lowe intercepted for a try from halfway.

Prescott added the extras and TJs led 15-0 inside 20 minutes..

Wimbledon struck back from a close-range scrum but the straight forward conversation hit the upright. There was time for a TJs repost before the break, with captain Jon McMahon gathering a clever Prescott chip to cross for a converted score and put the hosts well in control at the break.

TJs started the second period in the same attacking form. A superb aerial take from George Lawson saw Watson cross for the first of two tries in as many minutes..

Two yellows for TJs allowed Wimbledon to cross but Tonbridge hit back with a catch and drive finished by Lawson.

Wimbledon went close to another as their confidence increased but it was TJs who had the last laugh through a Finlay Coxon-Smith try.
