Grasshoppe­rs march on at the summit

PRESTON Grasshoppe­rs increased their lead at the top of the table with 38-10 win at bottom of the league Morley.

Matt Lamprey led the charge with a hat-trick followed by Scott Jordan, Tyler Spence and JP Meila with a try each. Jake Squirrel was successful with four conversion­s.

Dante Van De Merwe was the try scorer for the Yorkshire side converted by Mark Chesters who also slotted a penalty.

Second-place Lymm were unable to take the bonus point despite a 10-3 win against Harrogate.

Sam Mullarky was the lone try scorer, converted by Cormack Nolan to add to a first half penalty, while Luke White landed a penalty for the visitors.

Hull closed the gap on the Cheshire side taking the bonus point in a five-try win 38-5 at home to Kendal. Steve Hihetah went over

for a hat-trick with Dini Noyo and Alli Dynan bagging one each. All were converted by Steve Johnson, who also kicked a penalty.

Billingham take over from Harrogate in fourth following an eight try 50-10 extravagan­za at home to

Pocklingto­n. Joe Evans crossed for two with Elliott Husband, Ben Wilton, Matt Kirby, Adam Gardner, Luke Wilson and Dan Burns claiming one apiece, Dan Finney hitting five conversion­s.

Jack Walker was the try scorer for Pocklingto­n, converted by Jonty Peters to add to a first half penalty.

Wirral were 32-22 winners at home to Kirkby

Lonsdale. Keith Mahon and Rob Pearl rattled in a brace apiece. Matt Hoyland and Harry Huddleston were the visitors’ try scorers with Augustin Cittadini slotting two conversion­s and a penalty. Birkenhead Park move up a place despite going down 33-27 at home to Ilkley. Stuart Brown, Dave Ibbotson, and Paul Hellier were the try scorers. The home side managed to take two much-needed bonus points. Max McKay, Aaron McGee, Blake Morgan and Charles Ramsay, who also kicked three conversion­s and three penalties, were the try scorers for the visitors. Rossendale took the bonus point beating Sandal 21-29 at Milnethorp­e Green. Curtiss Strong took a brace with James Bramhall and George Peel the other try scorers.
