Lowe doubles up in Leinster stroll

- ■ By RONAN O’BRIEN

LEINSTER fine-tuned their preparations for next week’s Champions Cup battle with Exeter as James Lowe ran in two debut tries in Treviso.

Lowe was awesome for Leinster, who also welcomed back Garry Ringrose for the first time this season after his summer shoulder surgery, and a try for the Ireland centre on the hour mark took the game away from the home side.

There was a couple of assists for Leinster’s newest arrival too as Jordi Murphy and captain for the day, Luke McGrath, scored in each half to claim another convincing bonus point win for Leo Cullen’s side.

Cullen said: “It was a bit of a slog and there was plenty of errors from both teams, but we’re happy to get the win.”

Cullen’s side responded well to Tomasso Allan’s early penalty, and when Lowe bagged his first try after 17 minutes they began to show their talents, while Rhys Ruddock’s score on 33 minutes gave Leinster the foundation to build from after the restart.

Treviso replied with a converted try from Ignacio Brex.

But after Brex was sinbinned for a no-arms tackle, Ringrose, Lowe and McGrath wrapped up the win for Leinster, who also benefitted from the boot of Ross Byrne.
