first-half display by the Bedwas three quarters was enough to comfortably defeat Cardiff at the Arms Park.

The home side began strongly when Fraser Young charged over half way and Will Rees-Hole looked to have sent Adam Jones on a clear run to the line, but play was brought back for foul play.

The visitors opened the scoring midway through the half from an interception. Alun Rees made vital yards and Mike Callow cut through the Blue and Blacks’ defence to send Andrew Waite strolling over for a try.

A second try soon followed when Steffan Jones made a break and linked up with Lewis Evans and Ross Wardle, stretching the Cardiff defence. It allowed play to switch to the other wing where prop Brynley Toms was on hand.

Josh Martin got the first points for Cardiff courtesy of a penalty.

The visitors scored their third try when Craig Hudd picked up a loose ball to send Ben Thompson and Rees charging forward. Lewis Evans then skipped out of a weak tackle to touch down.

Jones extended his side’s lead to 19 points before a drive by the Cardiff pack saw Tom Daley claim a consolation try.
