THE ruse of taking a quick drop-goal conversion after a try to put the kibosh on a TMO review is sharp practice, and against the interests of the right decision being reached.

The TMO and referee should be allowed to do their jobs without having to worry about whether their decision is about to be made redundant. Sure, the process needs to be speeded up but let’s have the referee in charge of when the kick is taken, not a player trying to steal a march.
