Guernsey find Saxons tough proposition

GUERNSEY continue at the top but had to come from behind for their 15-48 win away at Southend
Saxons. Owen Thomas and Luke Sayer both crossed for two tries each with Sam Whitehead, Anthony Armstrong and Doug Horrocks over for one apiece. Thomas was also on target with five conversions and a penalty.
For the Saxons, who went in at the interval 15-10 ahead, Ross O’Brien and Blue Newton were the try scorers, with Max Navas adding a penalty.
Barnes, in second spot, kept up the chase after hammering Sidcup 7-57 at Crescent Farm. Robbie Martey racked up a hattrick, while Alex Hind went in for two and Johan Van de Pol, Fraser Carlisle, Gareth Williams Davey and Tom O’Toole one each – O’Toole kicked six conversions.
Tring, in third, beat
Dorking 32-7. Harry Shephard was the Dorking try scorer and it was converted by Matt Noble.
Hertford, with a game in hand over the sides above, were 54-3 winners at home to Towcestrians.
Rory Seamore and Torran Mc'Dougal both bagged two, with Richard Streets, Joe Stockwell on his debut, Chris Joyce and James Kingsley in for one each. Sean Taylor slotted six conversions and Ben Lloyd one.
Also with a game in
hand, Westcliff were 29-0 victors at home to
Shelford. Ross Merrick twice, Sam Brown, Seb Reynolds and Olly Jones were their scorers as Jack Jones converted twice.
Tunbridge Wells saw off the challenge of
Sutton and Epsom 50-10 at St. Marks. Mike Hathaway crossed for a double, with Nick Doherty, Frank Reynolds, Gus O'Grady, Matt Spicer and Ryan Taylor-Dennehy in for one each; Reynolds kickedsix conversions and a penalty. Sutton and Epsom managed two late tries from Joe Ridgley and Steve Munford. In the final game, Westcombe Park edged it 10-17 away at Guildford. Will Robinson and Dan Hamilton dotted down for Westcliff, with Robinson also adding two penalties and a conversion.
Alex Jordan was the Guildford try scorer, converted by Bradley Smith, who also hit a late penalty to guarantee the losing bonus point.
