Reynolds’ late try earns Carmarthen their bonus point

- ■ By JAY BAYFORD

QUINS were made to work hard as they claimed a bonus-point victory.

An early Steff Marshall penalty put them ahead, but Elliot Rees’ instant reply for Llanelli set the tone for an entertaining first half.

Ioan Hughes went close to a second for Llanelli but Dylan Morgans managed to reach the ball in time to halt the danger.

Hughes still managed to edge Llanelli further ahead with a penalty, before denying Lawrence Reynolds a try for the Quins with a fantastic last-ditch tackle.

But the Quins were not to be denied for long as Scott Lloyd forced his way over the whitewash to level the score.

Llanelli then went down to 14 men after Leon Randell was shown a yellow card.

And with the momentum swinging in favour of Carmarthen, they went ahead when Rhodri Clancy touched down.

A second Hughes penalty left the game perfectly poised at half-time.

The fly-half was on target again with another penalty early in the second half after Morgans had been booked. However, Marshall restored Quins’ lead with a three-pointer of his own.

Jack Price’s 70th-minute try helped Quins pull away in the latter stages and Marshall’s conversion extended their lead.

Quins kept pushing on and eventually claimed a bonus point in the dying minutes with Nicholas Reynolds’ late try. Star man Ioan Hughes – Llanelli
