Te’o decides he’s staying at Warriors – for now

-

BRITISH Lions centre Ben Te’o is set to see out the final year of his contract with the Worcester Warriors despite being a target for three rival Premiership clubs.

The England star, 31, signed a three-year deal when he moved to Sixways from Leinster in a cross code switch from the NRL.

Bath, Leicester Tigers and Sale Sharks have all asked about his availability in the last couple of months but have been told he isn’t going anywhere.

Te’o had stints in Australia with Wests Tigers, Brisbane Broncos and Russell Croweowned South Sydney Rabbitohs for whom he played for in a NRL Grand Final.

Bath boss Todd Blackadder has been keen on Te’o since last summer and he revived his interested a couple of weeks ago.

Blackadder has been looking to sign a new big name centre for over a year and would like nothing more than see Te’o at the Rec. ■ENGLAND are weighing up taking some Internationals away from Twickenham in the build up to next year’s World Cup in Japan.

RFU blazers have ruled out moving any Autumn Internationals or Six Nations matches because that wouldn’t be financial viable.

A study has revealed that the 82,000 capacity stadium could be sold out 30 times over with 2.5 million wanting tickets for big matches.

That is how the RFU make most of their revenue so it is likely to be the end-of-season game against Barbarians that gets moved.

And at least one of the warm up games for the World Cup next year as well.

But he will have to wait until next January when Te’o is in the final six months of his Warriors contract to offer him a deal. He could then finally get his man.

It is likely he will face competition from other directors of rugby who will start looking at who is available at the end of next season.
