Gogs continue march towards the title by routing Swans

- ■ By DEAN JONES

RGC 1404 continued their pursuit of the Principality Premiership title with victory over Swansea at Colwyn Bay.

The Gogs came out flying and notched their first try on three minutes when Tom Hughes crashed over. Jacob Botica added the extras, and fullback Dion Jones touched down a minute later for an unconverted score.

Gradually the All Whites begun to impose themselves and they scored on 14 minutes when Andrew Claypole crossed the whitewash, with the same player adding the conversion, and Jay Williams also went over after 17 minutes to put them ahead. Owen Howe added the extras.

The visitors were in rampant mood and pulled further clear when Mitch Walsh dived over. Howe nailed the conversion.

RGC responded well to the setback and reduced the arrears on 39 minutes when Andrew Williams powered across the line, and a Botica conversion made it a two-point game.

After the break Mark Jones’ side got their noses in front once again on 51 minutes when Iolo Evans touched down after a fine team move, and on 57 Hughes burst clear for his second try.

Botica struck his first penalty of the game on 76 minutes, and Williams secured his brace on 79, with the New Zealand flyhalf converting.

There was still time for another score which came courtesy of Rhys Williams in stoppage time. Star man Tom Hughes - RGC 1404
