Hyatt confident Aberavon can stop their winless slump
ABERAVON head coach Jason Hyatt hopes his side can halt their recent decline when they take on Llanelli at Parc y Scarlets this afternoon.
The Wizards, who were beaten by champions Merthyr in last season’s Principality Premiership final, haven’t won in five league games and Hyatt feels a victory today could kick-start their season.
“We’ve been disappointed with results going against us,” he said.
“On the up side, when you dig a little deeper at the performances, parts of our defence have been really good and our set-piece has been outstanding.
“We’ve just got to get that first win and I think that will raise confidence.
“We just feel someone’s got to be smiling on us at some point and we can get a few decisions.”
Meanwhile, the Sospans are also struggling for form.
They are without a win in six in the Premiership, but Hyatt insists his Wizards will have to be at their best to take the win. He continued: “Llanelli at home are a good side.
“They’ll look to throw the ball around and play with a lot of width.
“In fairness, they are similar to us. They’ve had some good performances, but results have gone against them at times.” Llanelli emerged triumphant 36-22 at home in the West Conference, so should take confidence.
Meanwhile, the Wizards secured a confidenceboosting victory at the Talbot Athletic Ground, triumphing 40-26.
