- By JAY BAYFORD

THE relegation fight is likely to go down to the wire following Rhydyfelin’s 40-7 defeat to Pontypool.

Garyn Lewis went over for the One East champions while Dai Gratton added the conversion but Pooler proved way too strong.

Alex Watkins, Clayton Gullis, Mike Herbert, Brendan Lampitt and a double from Kieran Meek ensured Pooler took maximum points.

Meek added ten points from the tee as the champions made it 21 wins from 21 in the league.

Skewen weren’t in action so they remain in the relegation zone above already-relegated Glynneath, who lost 43-37 at Bedlinog.

The basement boys showed plenty of fight with Ben Jones, Josh Ferryman, Alex Burton and James Roberts all going over to earn a bonus point.

Jack O’Reilly added the rest from the tee, which proved only enough for a losing bonus point as Bedlinog ran in six tries to secure their Championship status.

Oliver Tyler was at the double and was joined on the scoresheet by Nathan Huish, Dan Parry, Owen Rees and a penalty try. Parry added a further 11 points with his boot.

Beddau need just two points to stay up after picking up a losing bonus point in their 38-26 loss at Newcastle

Emlyn. Beddau were awarded two penalty tries and Adam Ashford and Hywel Chatham also went over.

But Emlyn picked up the victory thanks to tries from Brynmor Jones, Mike Jones, Ashley Sutton, Dafydd Evans and Llyr Freeman.

At the other end of the table, Trebanos moved to within a point of secondplaced Tata Steel with a superb 39-20 win over thirdplaced Narberth.

Llyr Davies bagged a brace for Trebanos. Tyler Murvai, Rhys Thomas, Steff Lewis and Morgan Evans added to the tally while Matthew Edwards hit three conversions and a penalty.
