Davies hat-trick is the Key to comfortable Bedwas win

- By IAN GOLDEN

BEDWAS ran in nine tries to overcome a resilient Cross Keys in an entertaining match.

A well-worked try gave Bedwas the lead, Steffan Jones running 20 metres down the wing to ground before converting himself.

Josh Prosser soon got Keys on the board, kicking a penalty from in front of the sticks, but Bedwas got their second try after Joseph Scrivens ran in.

Cross Keys closed the gap when winger Matthew Powell scored in the corner but Bedwas hit back 10 minutes before the break through Tom Rowlands with Jones converting.

A touch of class from Barney Nightingale saw him get another try back for Cross Keys with Prosser converting, but a brace of tries from Bedwas’ Ryan Davies, with Jones converting the first, gave them an 18-point lead.

Joe Thomas ran through for Cross Keys’ third before Jones got another for Bedwas, then two hammer blows struck for the visitors. Scott Evans was sinbinned before Mike Dacey grounded for Bedwas, then an injury saw replacement Garin Price leave the field with Cross Keys having used all their replacements.

Keys showed resilience and claimed their bonuspoint try through skipper Scott Matthews, but with four minutes to go, Aaron Bramwell brought up 50 for Bedwas. Thomas again replied for Keys before Davies ran over for his hattrick for Bedwas with the final move of the game. Star man Steffan Jones - Bedwas
