>> Cipriani: French aces vie to sign Wasps star

-

RACING 92 are ready to battle Paris rivals Stade Francais as they look to tempt Wasps fly-half Danny Cipriani to the French capital later this summer.

The former England man is currently weighing up his options after it was announced that he would be leaving the Ricoh Arena when his contract ends in June.

Cipriani, who this afternoon will play his final home game for Wasps when they take on Northampton Saints, is wanted by the Top 14 sides.

Both clubs are looking to bolster their squads with Morne Steyn set to depart Stade for Brive and All Blacks legend Dan Carter joining Kobe Steelers in Japan.

Former Springbok coach Heyneke Meyer, who is taking over at Stade next season, recently jetted into Paris for talks about his recruitment plans.

Meyer green-lighted a move for Cipriani who is likely to wait until he has played his last game for Wasps to reveal his future plans.

He is also attracting some interest from Ulster who are looking to replace the recently departed Ireland international Paddy Jackson.

But Blindside understands there is nothing in reports linking the 30year-old capped 14 times by England with a move to Premiership rivals Bath.

Bath have three flyhalves on their books next season with Yorkshire Carniege’s Alex Davies set to back up Freddie Burns and Rhys Priestland.

A couple of clubs from Japan have also sounded out Cipriani but are yet to follow up their interest with a firm offer.

Another Wasps player who will make his final home appearance is James Haskell who is yet to attract any offers.

Haskell wants to continue his career in the Premiership in a bid to keep alive his bid to play at the World Cup in Japan next year.
