- By PAUL HOPKINS Star man Rhodri Jones - Llandovery

A LATE Richard Brooks try saw Llandovery win an entertaining encounter against Swansea at St Helen’s.

It was a perfect start for the All Whites as Tudor Hughes charged down a kick and the pack drove forward for Jon Vaughan to score inside the opening 30 seconds.

From the next set piece, Rhodri Jones powered over for a try under the posts, which Jack Maynard converted to level the scores.

Brooks then held onto possession for too long after the tackle, but James Davies hit the post with his penalty attempt. Drovers failed to clear though and the home side hit back with Rhodri Wells diving through a ruck to score under the posts.

Two minutes later the scores were again tied when the Swansea defence was unable to lay a glove on the pacey Scott Maynard, who surged up to the line, before Jones darted over for his second try.

Try number three came for the Drovers when Ryan Evans made yards in the 22, before Jones took the ball on a superb angle to complete a well-deserved hat trick.

The Swansea pressure paid off when James Davies dummied his way over the line for a try.

Huge pressure on the Swansea line saw Brooks crash over for a match winning try in injury time sending the away fans home happy at the end of another thrilling contest between well-matched sides.
