Modern day giant bashing is turn off

The Rugby Paper - - Letters | Views -

I’M afraid that due to the style of modern play, I have to call it a day watching the professional game now.

I am 93 years of age and played to a good level in Wales but was restricted by the war.

I’ve seen stars such as JPR Williams, Gerald Davies, Gareth Edwards, David Duckham and Mike Gibson in their pomp.

These players were allowed to show their skills but nowadays all you see is a line of men running into another just to gain ground. Plus the time wasted on scrums and the number of injuries is concerning.

It seems these days only players who are big and bulky get to play which to these eyes is very sad when you consider the game’s former players who could light up a stadium. CHRIS FOULKES Coventry
