Women miss out to Ireland
ENGLAND women finished fourth in Marcoussis after a 39-7 defeat to Ireland in their bronze final.
England beat Wales 26-14 in the quarter-final but lost to Russia 36-14 in the last four. France then ran out 19-12 winners over Russia in the final.
In the pool stages, England beat Italy 31-0 in their opener, followed by a 35-0 win over Portugal, before a 26-14 loss to hosts France.
England Women 7s head coach James Bailey said: “This was a really productive weekend.
“We were able to give some of the girls the extra game time they needed as we prepare for the World Cup and also in exposing a number of young players to international sevens.”
