Christie try puts Students on path to victory

- By RYAN STEVENS

LOUGHBORUGH Students egded an entertaining encounter against Birmingham Moseley.

Though Moseley were seven points ahead of Loughborough at the start, the Students were looking to build on their previous home win.

Juggernaut Ben Christie claimed the first try after breaking through the Moseley line.

Moseley replied with a penalty and a try from James Williams and held a six-point lead heading into the second half, before tries by Loughborough’s Mark Dixon and Chris Brightwell as well as a penalty, hitting back for Moseley.

For a significant part of the second half, Loughborough dominated possession, with Moseley working hard to defend.

Victor Keunen took advantage of this early pressure and edged straight towards the try line. Within seconds, he had scored, followed by a successful conversion by Charlie Reed.

Then, with 58 minutes on the clock, Harry Williams broke through the Moseley defence and scored from his own 22-metre line.

Suvwe Obano then scored after several effective phases to give them a 15-point lead.

With a tense ten minutes remaining, Moseley were feeling the pressure, but did manage a try in the 75th minute as they searched for a dramatic twist in the game, but the Students held firm.
