Hinckley bite too hard for terrible Tigers

- By STEFFAN JAMES

HINCKLEY made it eight wins from ten after securing a bonus-point victory against chasing Sedgley Park.

The home side started the better thanks to a try from full-back Scott Hamilton, who crossed after 14 minutes.

Things then got even better for Hinckley after the half-hour mark with a try from winger Aaron Phillips.

The hosts were awarded a penalty five minutes later after Sedgley Park were offside at the breakdown; Outside-half Joseph Wilson took the three points to extend the lead to 15-0.

On the stroke of halftime a break in midfield from Callum Dacey saw him offload to second row Alex Branson, who eventually went over for Hinckley’s third try as they took complete control of the game.

It was the away side who had the final say of the half though, thanks to a score from centre Matthew Riley.

Sedgley Park knew that they had to start well in the second half if they were to get anything from the game but it was Hinckley who crossed for their bonuspoint try just two minutes after the restart – scrumhalf Ben Pointon touching down for the crucial score.

The next score came at the 70-minute mark through wing Andrew Riley.

It was all too late though as Wilson added another penalty with two minutes to go which sealed a convincing win for the home side.
