Lions full of regret as Otley seize the chances

- By SIMON MOYLE

PETERBOROUGH Lions once again dominated possession and territory this season but failed to win as Otley went home with the bonus point.

From an isolated attack on minute 20 Otley’s star man – full-back Benjamin Magee – scored a try under the posts very much against the run of play.

Repeating the style of the first try, the second came on the half-hour as Stephen Nolson was on the end of a break to receive the scoring pass and canter under the posts to score.

The Lions responded and were eventually rewarded for their endeavour with a try by hooker Charlie Robinson wide out on the right following a good driving maul by the forwards.

In the second half Otley won a scrum and worked the ball to the right, where winger Paul Petchey scored to extend Otley’s lead to 19-5.

Lions responded well with good work by winger Rory White and centre Nico Defeo, which created an attacking position deep inside the Otley 22.

From the resulting lineout second row Christian Edbrooke was driven over by the forwards to make the score 19-10.

Otley would have the last laugh though, scrum-half Harry Skelton going over in the 73rd minute to seal the game.

The Lions travel to Preston next time out and will hope to start converting pressure into points when chances come.
