Now Dan needs run of games says Lam

BRISTOL head coach Pat Lam hailed the performance of man of the match, Dan Thomas.

He said: “He’s a phenomenal athlete and was one of our best players last year before he did his knee. He is an unbelievable competitor to come back from that so soon. He just needs a run of games to regain top form.”

Lam was miffed to concede a late try. He added: “I wasn’t disappointed we didn’t score more points in the first half as the main aim was to apply pressure. We kept plugging away anf the boys were fantastic in defence so I had a word with the referee afterwards as I didn’t think it was a penalty try.”

Gloucester gave a debut to South African flanker, Jaco Kriel, who has spent 13 months out with a shoulder injury.

He said: “It was amazing to get back out there. Instinct kicked in and I took some shots. But things didn’t go according to plan and the senior players should have done more to help the youngsters.”
