Bournemout­h continue unbeaten start

BOURNEMOUT­H continued their faultless start to the South West Premier by picking up their ninth win on the bounce with a 34-15 victory over Exeter University.

Kicker Grant Hancox has now scored over 900 league points and got the leaders under way with a fourth minute penalty before Sam Hardcastle ran over the opening 11th minute try immediatel­y after the Students had responded.

Joe Rees and Freddie Gleadowe also ran over before half-time to give them a 20-10 lead.

It took until the 65th minute for Bournemout­h to secure the bonus point through Adam Davies before Jack Hennings crossed the whitewash to complete the scoring.

Ivybridge remain four points behind the leaders following a 36-13 victory Old Patesians.

Kicker Billy Pinkus scored two tries and three conversion­s while Matt Grevison, Rob Luscombe, Charlie Briant and William Lamont also crossed the whitewash.

Barnstaple head the chasing pack after taking the place of Exmouth following a 25-21 win.

It was Exmouth who ran over an early try through Mark Wathes before the hosts levelled through a penalty try.

Jake Murphy kicked two penalties before Ryan Lee ran over a try to put Barnstaple 20-7 ahead at half-time.

Despite Dave Bargent running over a second half brace of tries for Exmouth the hosts ran out winners with Matt Gohl scoring the winning try.

Conor Segre scored two tries for Bracknell as they ran out 30-20 winners over

Drybrook with Gabe Hills and Elliot Bellman also going over for the hosts.

Maidenhead picked up their sixth win from nine games as they beat Newton

Abbot 26-10 thanks to a brace of tries by Andy Berry, while Mark Darlington and Will Macaulay also scored. Ed Keohane was on form with the boot, kicking three conversion­s.

Brixham ran out 46-17 winners over Cleve with Pierce Byers scoring a firsthalf brace on his first team debut while Tom McLean, Ed Goodman, Connor Bedwell, JP Simonetti and Russ Morris scored tries. Meanwhile Westonsupe­r-Mare ran out 34-20 winners over Cambourne.
