WIMBLEDON maintained their grip at the top of the table after beating

Brentwood 29-17. Bill Chesters, Chris York, Richard Ridley, Jack Revelle and Jordan Saunders were the try scorers for the visitors with Matt Gilbert and Will Taylor adding a conversion apiece.

Charlie Wilkinson and Adam Thompson crossed

for Brentwood with Bradley Burr, showing his reliabilit­y with the boot, adding two conversion­s and a penalty.

Westcliff are just three points behind in second spot following a 38-11 win at home to Tring.

Phil Morrant and Jack Jones crossed the whitewash for two each with Sam Brown and Jake Spivey over for one, the clinical Jones, impressive throughout, also landing four conversion­s.

Guildford lost 23-12 at home to Sutton and

Epsom and now slip back to fifth place.

Alex Jordan and Kyle Brown crossed for the home side, while Alex Mount and James Caddy went in for ‘Suts’ with the damage chiefly being caused by the boot of Sam Hurley through two conversion­s and three penalties. Dorking improved their standing with a 23-19 win at Sidcup. Lewis Keeley dotted down for Sidcup with Sam Evans kicking four penalties. Joel Bennett and Finn Osborne crossed for the visitors, both converted by Ben Lloyd who also added three penalties.

Tunbridge Wells beat CS Stags 24-18, Nick Doherty George Montgomery and Dave Allen all crossing for converted scores.

Hertford were 29-12 victors at home to Chingford. A penalty try, and scores from James Keens, James Kingsley and Joe Stockwell was the difference between the sides, while Josh Noah and Vince Marchese were the Chingford try scorers with Scott Meakin adding the one conversion.

In the final game of the round, the basement battle went the way of Bedford

Athletic, who beat bottom of the table Shelford 29-22 at The Davey Field.

Athletic also took the bonus try point which, although still in the relegation zone, has put them in contact with the sides immediatel­y above.
