Burnhill too hot to handle for Stour

- By NICK DOYLE

OTLEY downed a spirited Stourbridge side, scoring four unanswered tries in the first half.

They opened the scoring after a Stourbridge penalty did not find touch in Otley’s half, Cameron Burnhill running 50 metres and gathering his own long kick to score.

Their second try began with Jack Mackie spinning down the right-hand flank, the ball moving across with Burnhill going over again.

Stourbridge kicked off again, Otley moving the ball wide in their 22 before Stephen Nolson sprinted to the other end.

He was tackled just before the line, but his momentum carried him over. Their fourth try came after 33 minutes when Ben Smith put a penalty into the corner.

The pack crabbed their way towards the posts before releasing the backs, Joe Rowntree diving over with Smith getting his third conversion.

In the second half, Stourbridge played with more purpose. And they got their first try when Jack Spencer went over. They reduced the deficit further when Chris Scott sent the ball deep into Otley’s 22. Otley gave away a penalty, which was taken quickly and Ian Rundle scored with Rickie Aley converting.

But Otley made the game safe, Paul Petchey going over.
