Second-half blitz seals it for Hawks
HENLEY ran in four second-half tries to get back to winning ways with a bonus-point victory against London Irish Wild Geese at Hazelwood.
Henley had edged in front 12-10 at half-time after a late try from scrum-half Ross MacDougall, before producing a 26-point second-half blitz to pile more misery on secondbottom Wild Geese.
The bonus-point victory lifts Henley level with second-placed Canterbury on 50 points.
Alex Bradley’s 14thminute try gave Henley the lead but the hosts came immediately back into it when fly-half Ollie Turner scored a penalty.
Wild Geese second row Scott Moore added to the lead, before MacDougall went over to give the visitors the advantage at half-time after an inauspicious start.
MacDougall led Henley’s merciless second-half onslaught when he crossed over almost immediately after the restart, before centre Daniel Barnes added to the lead just five minutes later.
Henley’s second-half resurgence continued when full-back Samuel Randle went over from close range, before their lead was cut to 31-15 by a Christopher Browne try.
Henley replacement Scott White crossed to complete the scoring with Giles converting to seal it.
