Titans claim derby honours in style

- By KEITH BROOKING

THE TITANS were pushed hard in this local derby but were eventually able to pull away thanks to five second-half tries.

It was Old Redcliffians who took an early lead as they broke straight through the middle with a try for flanker Scott Coster.

Former Titan Kieran Hill kicked the conversion before the Titans scored on their first attack when hooker Chris Francis was driven over the line. Gary Kingdom kicked the conversion to tie the scores. The Titans then took the lead with a converted try from flanker Julian Salvi.

Back came Old Reds once again finding a weak spot in the Titans defence and claiming their second converted try, this one scored by flyer Henry Bird. With the game tied it was Old Reds who took the advantage at half-time with a penalty kicked by Hill.

In the second half it was all Taunton with five unanswered tries and three in the space of five minutes. The hosts scored early in the second half with Francis claiming his second before the five minutes that decided the game. First over was Jacob Nash, followed by Ollie Rice and then an interception try for Sam Brown.

Isaac Dalton added another just after the hour, with Kingdom converting all seven tries.
