Super sub completes bonus-point victory in style

- By JOHN THOMPSON Star man Tom Price - Llanelli

DEBUTANT Jake Baker scored a try off the bench as Llanelli claimed a bonus-point win against Bridgend at Parc y Scarlets.

The lock took just four second-half minutes to mark his first appearance for Llanelli with a try that sent Bridgend crashing to a fifth defeat in a row.

The only points for The Ravens came from an 11thminute penalty from their Wales Under 20 outside half Cai Evans, which opened the scoring, but after that they were put to the sword once again.

The free-flowing home side were able to attack from all over the field and conjured up three tries in the first-half and two more after the break.

After a tight start the game was turned on its head by two tries in the space of five minutes from the home side. The first went to wing Liam Hutchings and then No.8 Richard Bassett added the second.

That made it 14-3 after 25 minutes and it soon became obvious that the Llanelli players fancied more. By the break they had added a third try from No.8 and skipper Nathan Hart to hoist their advantage to 21-3 - the second half was all about hunting down the bonus-point try.

Baker picked up the spoils after coming on as a replacement for Ashleigh Hyndman and victory was rounded off with a fifth try from Kalum Evans.
