Unbeaten Glynneath take over in West Central

GLAMORGAN Wanderers warmed up for their National Plate clash with holders Brynmawr next week with a thumping 36-7 triumph over Llantrisan­t.

The league leaders took advantage of Rhiwbina’s postponed fixture at Bridgend to extend their lead at the top of One East Central with a bonus-point victory.

Wanderers outside-half Luke Fish led the charge with a 16-point haul, which included a try, three penalties and a conversion.

James Loxton, Cameron Gibbon, Josh Male and Harrison Ashby also touched down to extend their lead to five points.

Unbeaten One North leaders Llandudno hosted a Langefni side yet to win and ran out 52-0 winners thanks to eight tries.

Back rower Bob Davies led the way with a hat-trick and No.8 Owen Morgan also got in on the act. The rest of the tries came from the back line as full-back Lloyd Evans (2), centre Dan Sullivan and wing Rhys Henderson all crossed.

Penallta are now level on points with Brynmawr in One East after a thumping 40-17 bonus-point win over Dowlais.

Aeron Bidgood was at the double and he was followed over the line by Geraint Capel, Max George, Aaron Owen and Lewis Rowden as the Pitmen picked up maximum points. Joseph Scrivens, who has played in the Premiershi­p for Bedwas this season, kicked five conversion­s.

In One West, leaders and reigning champions Felinfoel came unstuck for only the second time this season, beaten 32-23 at Hendy.

Scrum-half Ifan BeynonThom­as, wing Dyfan Williams, lock Richard Kinnear and No.8 Aled Thomas grabbed the tries. Felinfoel used their powerful scrum to pick up a two penalty tries either side of the break.

Glynneath took over at the top of One West Central as they extended their unbeaten record to eight games with a five-try, 34-11 bonus-point win at Aberavon Quins.Owen Nesbitt, Alex Burton, Craig Tennant and Stuart Leach all added to a penalty try.
