During his injury absence Hughes has seen the competition to play second fiddle to Billy Vunipola for England ramped up with Mercer given a chance in the Autumn. But the Wasps giant showed why he is fit to fill Vunipola’s massive jersey with another impressive all-round performance. Both players grabbed tries and Mercer also carried strongly and tackled well.
