Tynedale saved by the Bell in eight try battle

S Leicester .... 28 Tynedale ........ 35

- By ROSS BARNETT

TYNEDALE recovered from a ten-point first half deficit to seal a five-try victory over struggling South Leicester.

However, it was the hosts who were first on the board. Ben Palmer played in William Cave for a wellworked back line try before Palmer gave South a tenpoint lead after 11 minutes with a penalty.

Tynedale hit back through David Batey as the hooker emerged from the bottom of a rolling maul before James Neal crossed in the corner for the hosts.

Palmer added his second penalty with 15 minutes left in the first half. However, a purple patch followed for the visitors just before the half-time whistle.

William Ward was sent to the bin and Tynedale capitalised, with Ben Haigh scoring the try.

Morgan Passman gave the visitors the lead for the first time in the match five minutes after the restart. The winger showed good pace to get away from Quinten Koster.

Palmer slotted his third penalty to level the game with 23 minutes remaining. However, Tynedale responded and Haigh grabbed his second try to secure the bonus point.

Ben Bell sealed the match for his side.

The No.8 spotted a gap from a maul and had enough pace to run in from 25 metres, before Joviah Pohe secured a losing bonus point for his side.

However, the day belonged to an excellent Tynedale side.
