Silky Saunders inspires Wimbledon

WIMBLEDON continue their fine form following a 74-0 thrashing of bottom of the table Shelford at Barham Road.

The home side racked up 12 tries through Jordan Saunders with a hattrick,

Freddie Hooper, Josh Charles, Mark Scott, Bertie Haskins, Phil Chesters, Ed Askew, Tom Milner with two and Joe Dale, Hooper also successful with seven conversion­s off the tee. Sutton and Epsom secured a bonus point in a 36-15 win at home to Dorking. Sam Hurley, George Drye, Kyren Ghumra (2) and James Caddy were the try scorers with Hurley landing four conversion­s. Henry Smith and Tom Hunt crossed for the visitors in the second half, while Matt Noble added one conversion to a firsthalf penalty. Westcliff are close behind in third beating Tunbridge Wells 30-10. Chris Marsh, George Maloney, Ross Merrick and Bob Smith crossed for tries.

Hertford lead the chasing group after seeing off

Guildford 11-45 at Broadwater. Josh Hewitt, Chris Joyce, Dave Archer (2), Richard Streets, Tim Matthews and James Kinsley all dotted down, with Ben Lloyd kicking five conversion­s. Christian King grabbed a consolatio­n score for Guildford with Jonny Burden adding two penalties.

With Dorking slipping back a touch Tring move into fifth place in their 23-3 win at home to Chingford.

Gary Andrews, Richard Beeny and Richard Roberts were the try scorers with Tom Newton landing one conversion­s and two penalties. CS Stags also move up a place taking the bonuspoint in a 47-19 over

Bedford Athletic. Josh Forrester led the charge with two tries followed by Adam Nixon, Nick Lovell, Conrad Burns Ryan Martin and Tom Hodgson who also kicked six conversion­s in for one each.

In the final game of the round Brentwood came out winners 49-17 at home to Sidcup. Anthony Sherwood landed a brace of scores with Charlie Wilkinson, Ben Amato, Henry Galligan, Dan Suttle and Jack Richardson went in for one each, all converted by Bradley Burr.

Elliot Evans crossed for the visitors, converted by Sam Evans to add to an early penalty but Sidcup also managed a late try, with Burr converting.
