Johan: We need action not words

-

GLOUCESTER head coach Johan Ackermann was critical of his side’s inability to match words with actions after a collapse against Munster which saw them exit the European Cup.

Ackermann said: “The biggest concern is we speak a lot off the field, and we know where things go wrong, but it is time to fix it on the field. We all can catch a ball, we must just do it. We can all tackle, we must just do it better.”

He said that Gloucester had come up short in defence, as well as in the aerial and lineout contests. “The stats say we are the same level of defence and carries, but it’s how strong they were physically in the defensive sets, where we gave them easy momentum.”

Fly half Joey Carbery said of his 26-point contribution: “I’m obviously delighted, but what makes me more happy is the scoreboard.

“It’s a huge credit the coaches and team...it’s still not there though, we’ve got one more big week (against Exeter).”
