Pivac: That was more like our style

-

AFTER some recent poor performances Scarlets’ head coach Wayne Pivac said his side were back to somewhere near their best.

He said: “There was a little bit of the Scarlets of old and I’m very happy at the way the game panned out.

“After a slow start, where there was a lot of whistle, the forwards built a good platform and we were getting into our stride just before half-time to be 12-0 up at the interval.

“We kicked on in the second half and we were able to get our bench on early so the game ticked all the boxes.”

Scarlets’ hooker, Ken Owens, was again forced to play at No 8 and was rewarded with a try in another whole-hearted performance.

Pivac paid to tribute to his captain: “He’s a great guy, plays with a lot of emotion and puts his team first. He had to play a full 80 minutes out of position again as we didn’t want to risk Josh Macleod and had to keep him on the bench to give him further recovery time for his foot fracture.

“We will be giving Ken a rest for Racing Metro next week like Jonathan Davies had a rest today.”
