Pollard move to Bath looks to be over
BATH look set to fail in their bid to lure Springbok fly half Handré Pollard to the Rec following the World Cup in Japan next year. Pollard, 24, who can also operate at inside centre has spent the last four years with the Bulls and is out of contract at the end of next year. He spoke to Bath about joining them and it has been claimed he was even seen in the spa town during the autumn international series.
Hopes that he would be moving to the club heightened last week when Bath announced that Wales international Rhys Priestland would be leaving in the summer.
But Blindside’s scout in South Africa tells us Pollard is close to agreeing a new deal with the Bulls until 2021 and that he wants to play against the British Lions.
Bath could now try to see whether the South African Rugby Union will allow Pollard to have a one-year sabbatical with them.
