Willemse joins Les Bleus Boks
WHAT began as a trickle is now becoming something of a procession. The capping by France of South African and Fijian players shows no sign of slowing down what with the arrival of 26-year-old lock Paul Willemse, from Pretoria via Montpellier.
He would have been accompanied by Alivereti Raka had Clermont’s Fijian wing not been in the throes of recovering from a broken hand. It can be but a matter of time before he joins his compatriots Virimi Vakatawa and Noa Nakaitaci as part of Les Bleus.
The French do not have a monopoly on Fijians, not with England capping Samesa Rokoduguni and Nathan Hughes. Australia remain the chief beneficiary what with Tevita Kuridrani, Harry Speight, Samu Kerevi, Marika Koroibete and Sefa Naivalu to name but five.
