>> Gloucester eye fly-half Jarrod
GLOUCESTER are weighing up a move for Wales and Cardiff Blues playmaker Jarrod Evans.
The Cherry & Whites are looking for an outside-half to challenge first-choice No.10 Danny Cipriani while they also have Welsh-qualified Lloyd Evans on their books.
Jarrod Evans’ Blues contract expires at the end of this season and he is of interest to numerous Premiership clubs.
But The Rugby Paper understands George Skivington’s Gloucester are at the front of the queue should the 24year-old opt to leave Wales.
Doing so would mean Evans putting his international career on hold.
While his natural talent and running game isn’t up for debate, some have questioned Evans’ ability to manage a game at the highest level. A move to the Premiership could help the former Pontypridd man develop his game.
But Evans is thought to still be very much in Wales coach Wayne Pivac’s plans and it would be a blow for the New Zealander to lose a player of Evans’ quality.
Evans was not an official part of Wales’ autumn squad, but he did train with Pivac’s men.
Due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic the four professional sides in Wales have no definitive playing budgets for next season as things stand otherwise Evans might have more options to remain in Wales.
Even though he has yet to decide on his future, Gloucester are keen to add Evans’ attacking style to a mouth-watering backline which already includes Stephen Varney, Cipriani, LouisRees Zammit and Jonny May.
