JJ was our star says Van Graan

-

MUNSTER head coach Johann van Graan never stopped believing his side would complete mission impossible at Stade Marcel Michelin.

“We definitely thought we could win, we came here to win, we didn’t come here to get a bonus-point,” he said as he celebrated victory. “The message at halftime was that ‘if we believe in our plan and stick to the process we will win this game’.

“I asked the 23 guys to stick to what we do, we spoke a lot in the week and credit to the players because they believed until the final second of this game.

“I thought JJ’s goalkicking was excellent, he made some big kicks. As a group we decided we had to stay in the game for 80 minutes which we did and that required him to kick the penalties which he certainly did. I thought the last kick after the try was big because that took it out of sight.

“It was a big pressure kick, he’s missed some over the last year but the good thing about JJ is that he kept going and he wanted those kicks. He converted them tonight and I’m so happy for him.”
