SO ITALY will share a pool with New Zealand for the seventh time in ten World Cups when the jamboree begins in France in 2023. Which means All Blacks can look forward to dipping their toes in the Pool of Life yet again.

If the Azzurri are wondering what happened to their luck, they should count their blessings instead. Under any sane system, they would have spent the next two and a half years fighting their way through qualification.
