Harries hits four as Warriors go on rampage

- By NATHAN ROCHE

WORCESTER Warriors eased past lowly DMP Sharks to kick-off the new year in style.

Jo Yapp’s side ran in 11 tries to secure the try bonus-point, with skipper Sioned Harries crossing for four of them as the Sixways outfit closed the gap on the top six.

Wales No.8 Harries was first to touch down for the hosts after only four minutes when she stretched over from close range after Canada wing Farries had got to within inches of the whitewash with a scintillating line break.

Sharks, who have now lost all eight of the league games, were quick to strike back and force a penalty which centre Beth Blacklock slotted through the posts.

Worcester began to go through the gears and worked the ball into the hands of Paige Farries who ran in from 40m, converted by Robyn Wilkins.

The Sharks dug deep to stay within touch and Blacklock converted another penalty. But from there, there was no coming back for the visitors as Warriors scored ten times in a matter of 50 minutes.

Another try for Farries, a carbon copy of the first, was quickly followed by two tries for hooker Carys Phillips on her return from a lengthy injury layoff.

Harries followed suit by notching her second try of the match before the break.

At 38-6, Warriors kept their foot on the pedal with additional tries for Caryl Thomas, Hannah Bluck, Brooke Bradley and Charlotte Wright Haley.
